"Lynch is now earning his keep by playing the bit part of a painter..."

- 1978 Newseek review of Eraserhead, mentioning Lynch's role in Heart Beat

THE FILM - After the slow but steady success of Eraserhead, Lynch actually had little work. Before Mel Brooks signed him on to Elephant Man, Lynch was painting, fixing roofs and doing odd plumbing jobs. His sister-in-law Sissy Spacek (who actually worked with Lynch on Eraserhead and would work with him later on Straight Story) landed him a cameo role in the 1980 film "Heart Beat" starring Sissy and Nick Nolte.

In the film Lynch plays an uncredited role of a painter. The artwork he is working on in the film is actually his own paintings! Also of note is that Jack Fisk (who has worked with Lynch in multiple projects from Eraserhead to Mulholland drive) heads the production design for the film.

THE POSTERS - The film found limited commercial release and success and I have only been able to find some US paper memorabilia. On these is no mention of Lynch on the posters as he is uncredited for his role. Therefore these items are mainly only of interest to the Lynch completist (such as myself).
