Note the 2000 release date - two years and counting before the DVD release.

The poster was printed in the exact same size as the original Eraserhead theatrical poster but the image of Henry is taken directly from the film for the DVD poster. Thus it the image is MUCH clearer than the photocopy that was taken for the original theatrical poster. (See the original Eraserhead poster page for details.)

Also note that Lynch decided to continue his skinnier "non-block" font (that he preferred for the original poster) for both the DVD and reprint posters.
